The Totally Should’ve Book Tag

Good afternoon, Cyberspace! How are you doing? Good?

Good. Because today I’m throwing a total curveball and posting a Smudge that is completely unlike any other post I’ve done thus far. (Which is like a whopping total of 5. [#underwhelming])

But anyway! I was tagged to do this post by the absolutely wonderful Áine over at Writing on a Vintage Typewriter, whose blog you should totally check out because it is amazing. (Seriously. Do it. I shall wait.)

Alrighty then! Let’s get on with the tag, shall we?

I have no idea what I’m doing.

The Totally Should’ve Book Tag

(created by emmabooks)

Number One: Totally Should’ve Gotten a Sequel

Okay, so for this one I’m totally doing Spelled by Betsy Schow. Honestly. That ending had me hanging by a broken limb off a cliff, with no way to grapple my way back to the mainland. If you have read this book, you will understand.

If you have not. Read it. It’s awesome.

(Okay, so technically this book is [possibly] getting a sequel, BUT IT IS NOT HERE YET, SO THIS WILL REMAIN MY ANSWER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. [#rant])

Number Two: Totally Should’ve Gotten a Spin-Off Series

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh….

Number Three: An Author That Totally Should Write More Books

Marissa Meyer.

Heartless is coming out next month and I am literally dying because Alice In Wonderland plus Marissa Meyer’s magical talent for writing equals me dying from happy squealing.

Seriously. I need more of her books…

Number Four: A Character That Totally Should’ve Ended Up With Someone Else

I honestly have no answer for this… It’s like I have this magical gift of being able to pick out who belongs with who, and the book just agrees with me.

So yeah. This honestly has never happened for me… #brag

Number Five: Totally Should’ve Ended Differently

Allegiant.

I feel like a lot of people probably gave that as their answer, but alas, I must agree with them. This book just did not end well.

At all.

Number Six: Totally Should’ve Had a Movie Franchise

THE LUNAR CHRONICLES.

Please, I need these miraculous books in movie form. (And can I be Cress, because that would be amazing. [I can totally hack into stuff…probably… {Actually, I probably can’t but I WILL LEARN.}])

Number Seven: Totally Should’ve Had Only One Point of View

Allegiant. Again.

Number Eight: Totally Should’ve Had a Cover Change

Um… I can’t really say as if I’ve ever hated a cover so much that I’ve wished for it to morph into something else.

So yeah.

Number Nine: Totally Should’ve Kept The Original Covers

Again… I really don’t have an answer for this.

(#booktagfail)

Number Ten: Totally Should’ve Stopped at Book One

The Maze Runner.

(Initiate people trying to brutally murder me hating me forever.)

I know, I know. Everyone I know seems to love this series. But I just…can’t…finish Scorch Trials. I have tried. Twice.

It ain’t happening.

I loved The Maze Runner, though, so let’s just tweak the ending a bit, and there we go. A perfect standalone.

Thank you so so SO much to Áine for tagging me to do this book tag! I had a lot of fun writing it, and I hope I didn’t butcher it up too much!

(I totally did…)

But anyway, thank you so much!

And to all you writer people out there who would like to do this tag as well, go ahead and do it! But be sure to share a link with me so that I may read your marvelous posts!

Well, that’s about it, folks! What’d ya think? Did I completely butcher this tag? Shall I hide my head in a paper bag of shame? Do you think I’m a wretched human being for not liking Scorch Trials? Tell me what you think below. (There shall be cookies.)

  1. Ooh, this was a interesting post! And, oh my goodness, HOW COULD YOU?! The maze runner trilogy is one of my favourite book series, I would have died if it was only a sand alone! Haha, but I totally agree about Marissa Meyer needing to published more books!

  2. oh I agree about the Lunar Chronicles! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH And I think they should be a TV series so we can have 4 seasons of maximum awesomeness with tons of little sub-plots and so much awesome and sass. #win :’) And bahahha, yes to Allegiant. I mean, I actually liked the ending??! But I think it was too jarring to suddenly throw Four in there.
BUT I LOVE THE SCORCH TRIALS SO MUCH AND ALSO THE DEATH CURE. <3 But I understand why not many people do like them, hehe. 😂

    • Oh my word, YES!!! An entire TV series is DEFINITELY what The Lunar Chronicles needs!!!! (That way it can last FOREVER!!!!!)

Haha, yeah, I have to agree that Allegiant was good. I just don’t know as if the ending was necessary…. (That actually just might be my heart screaming for a different ending…[it’s most definitely my heart in denial])

And ugh!! I so want to like Scorch Trails!!! Perhaps I shall have to try it again…. I feel terrified at the prospect, but third time’s the charm, right? Lol!

    • I did like Spelled!!! But a quick note of warning, there are a few things I really despised about it… I might need to re-read and do a review or something, cause there were a few swear words or something… I cant really remember…

Oh no!! That is the worst! There have been a couple times when my ships haven’t sailed I believe, and it was the worst feeling EVER!

      • Oh. How unfortunate… Was it free on Amazon, too??? Or do you have to pay money for such nonsense??? (Also I meant to ask the same thing about The Savage Song… did you get it on your kindle??)

MY SHIPS NEVER SAIL MOOOOOOOOO!!! I think Anne and Gilbert were the only ones who did end up together to be honest…

        • We actually got it at Barnes and Noble, so it was kind of sad. I still enjoyed the story, however! And I borrowed This Savage Song from an online library on my kindle, so luckily I wasn’t in the out on that one.

#ANNEANDGILBERTFOREVER!!!!!! I was rooting for them to get together ever since she cracked a slate over his head! *sigh*

          • I’ve been meaning to ask you about the digital library on your kindle?? HOW DOES IT WORK AND CAN I DO IT TOO AND IS IT FREE????

Ohmyword, I am SO glad you know about them!!! Have you seen the movies or just read the books???? THEY ARE SO FABULOUS TOGETHER!!

            • Ummmmm… Well, it’s the Ohio Digital Library, and I think you have to have a card, but I honestly do not know. I think we’re able to use it because we have a card for a library in Ohio, which is the code I was looking for the other day… I’m not sure if there would be a library around where you live that’s online??? It’s worth looking into!! I’m not sure on the freeness… Does it cost money to get a library card???

Oh goodness, Anne of Green Gables is one of my uptime favorite stories of ever!!!! I believe I have seen the movies, but it’s been a really long time ago. I’ve read most of the books MULTIPLE times, but I don’t think I’ve ever read either the very last one, or the very last two for some reason??? I’ve been meaning to read those… OH MY WORD, YES!!!!

              • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH WHOOPS!!! Sorry!! I didn’t know it had to do with location. I thought it was just an app you had downloaded onto your kindle or something!!!

I don’t think it usually costs money to get a library card, but you’re right – it would be cool to see if there are any digital libraries in my area…

YAYAYAYYYYYYYYYY I LOVE THE FIRST ONE SO MUCH!!! They got less good as it went on, unfortunately. Exactly one MILLION people have told me that I should read her other books and poetry and things but good gracious, I never do. Something to prioritize!!! (Says the girl who prioritizes, um, EVERYTHING. So, in other words, nothing gets done as a priority.)

                • Ugh, I WISH!!! That would be so cool! Like an app with all of these different books on it… If I was an app maker, I would totally make that…

Oh, that’s lovely!! FREE BOOKS FOR ALL!!! Unless your libraries are like mine. Then it’s SLIM PICKINGS FOR ALL!!!

The first one is my ultimate favorite, too!!! There’s just no topping the tiny little Anne Shirley that came to live with Matthew and Marilla as a mistake!!! EEP! I didn’t really know she had other books and poetry…. And I DO THE EXACT SAME THING, WUT. I didn’t know this was an actual thing??? Like I’m always like OH, I’LL DEFINITELY DO THIS IMMEDIATELY to like every single thing and then I never do nothing. XD

                  • Ack, I’m sorry about your little library. ONE OF THESE DAYS I WILL SHOVE ALL THESE BOOKS DOWN YOUR THROAT AND YOU WILL LOVE IT.

This is why we are twins. ;)

                    • THAT WILL BE GLORIOUS!! I cannot wait to have ALL OF THE BOOKS shoved down my throat and quite possibly die by fiction. T’would be a glorious way to die. XD XD XD

                      PRECISELY. *is twin*
