NaNoWriMo Wrap Up: The End

Happy Tuesday, Cyberspace! Rise and shine! How are you this morning? What is the weather like? Is it sunny? Is it raining? Is it snowing?

I wouldn’t know. I’m writing this on Monday night.

#bloghacks

Anyway!!! As you can probably guess by the title of this Smudge, I have some exhilarating news to share with you today!!!!

That’s right, folks! I WON NANOWRIMO!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Can you believe it? I can’t.

Seriously. I cannot believe this has happened.

And guess which day I won on?

That’s right. Black Friday. The most terrifying day of the year, when everyone goes out in the wee hours of the morning to ram through the front doors of retailers and plow through crowds of human beings to purchase tons of random things that will probably be thrown away at some point browse peacefully through the epic deals that retailers shove down our throats have been advertising for the past three months.

So while most of the United States was out and about shopping, I was sitting on my couch.

Writing.

All day.

And let me tell you it was worth it, for on that fateful Friday, I crossed over the 50,000 word mark. It was glorious. It was magnificent. I could hear the angels singing as I pasted my book into the verification box on the NaNoWriMo website. I felt the chill of a December breeze ripple over my skin as the end of November drew near. It was over. After 25 grueling days of writing, I had finally reached my goal.

And then a screen popped up saying that I had to write another 300 words because the NaNoWriMo word counter was apparently not comparable to the Scrivener counter.

#joy

So, after writing what was probably another 500 words (because I overdo things, obviously), I finally was able to verify that, yes, after much thought and deliberation from the NaNo verification center, I had indeed won NaNoWriMo.

But I did not do it alone.

This November has been a series of ups and downs for me. There were good days, there were bad days, and there were days in which it was like biting into a stale almond. But throughout all of that, I was never once alone.

My family, friends, and wonderful bloggy buddies were constantly there, cheering me on and giving me unending support. To all of you, I am eternally and extremely grateful. This November has been one of the best months of the year, and it would not have been the same without all of you there.

(Also, shoutout to my two friends who discovered that I had not so secretly created a blog. HEY, GUYS, HOW YA DOIN’? *waves*)

Anyway, to give you all a taste of what I’ve been working on (and hopefully avoid plagiarizers) I shall be spontaneously creating a game. What is this game called, you ask?

Well…

WHO SAID THAT?

 (Ever Lost Version)

Now, the rules of this game are simple. I’m going to give you guys a few lines of dialogue, and you are to tell me in the comments below which character said it.

Your options of characters are as follows:

A. Peter Burke

B. Thao Crowe

C. Adaline Potts

Alright! Pretty simple, am I right? Don’t worry, there’s no penalty if you get it wrong. I won’t behead you or anything.

Or maybe I will, mwahahahahahaha!

If you’ve been reading my recent Smudges, then I’m sure some of these will be rather easy for you, however, for those of you that may have forgotten, here are some links that might be of assistance… Like Adaline’s Character Interview, my Introduction to Ever Lost, and the Ever Lost Update.

(I do not know how helpful these posts will be, so unless you’re ready to sift through some massive blog overload, I’d suggest just trying to guess which quotes belong to who…)

Anyway! Let the game commence!!!

Round 1– “I suppose the butterflies are trying to tell me something, then.”

Round 2– “Hey, hey, hey, don’t touch that. It’s vintage.”

Round 3– “Don’t know, really don’t care. Now swipey swipe and let’s get this show on the road.”

Round 4– “You’re insane. Mental. Utterly mad. Take your pick, they all apply.”

Round 5– “Rose doesn’t like you. She likes you a lot better when you can’t talk.”

Alright, so there you have it! Five questions, three characters. Thinking about this further, this will probably be way too difficult, as you probably know next to nothing about Thao and Peter.

However, I’m too lazy to delete this right now, so I’m leaving it in. Answers will be posted on Thursday, along with a new Smudge, which I have no clue what it’s going to be about because NANOWRIMO SHALL BE OVER.

My security blanket…it is burning.

Anyway, to all the people out there who are still trying to hit that 50k goal, don’t give up!!! There are still two days, and even if you don’t make the 50k, you were still AMAZING this month! You’ve written more than you would have had you not participated, and I couldn’t be more proud of you all! You are amazing. Never forget that, little beans.

As for Ever Lost, it isn’t finished yet. December is going to be a busy month, as I still have ten or so chapters to write before I can officially type The End, and it is my ultimate goal to get this first draft finished by the New Year.

Or February…

Well, that’s about it for today, folks! How’s your NaNo going? Are you sad that it’s coming to a close? Are you going to miss my weekly NaNo updates? Are you getting sick of hearing me constantly blab about NaNoWriMo? Are you ready for Christmas? OH MY GOODNESS CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!!! :D

  1. I’m guessing one and five were Adaline…

And I’m gonna guess that 2 and 3 were said BY THE SAME PERSON and that four was said by the other one, because I know nothing about Peter or Thao, so. ;)

  2. 1 – Adaline
    2- Peter
    3- Thao
    4- Thao
    5- Adaline

Random guesses based on the very little I know about these characters. I know Adeline the best, so I think I got those right. The others I just sort of guessed at based on not so logical reasoning.

I’m about to throw a party that it is over!! (November I mean) AM I READY FOR CHRISTMAS!?!?! Of Course, Completely, Whole Heartedly, Without a Shadow of a Doubt !!!!!!!

    • Ooh! Another good round of guesses!!! Eek! I cannot wait for Thursday!

Illogical reasoning is the only way to survive in the writing world, haha!
