The Smudged Thoughts PictoPrompter: Episode Two

G’day, Cyberspace! As you can probably guess by my extremely boring and predictable title, today is the second installment in my brand new bloggy fandangle thingy-ma-bobbin–The Smudged Thoughts PictoPrompter! WHOO!

*crickets chirping*

I was actually expecting episode one to be a giant flop, but it turns out that people actually responded really well to it, and, to my immense shock, we even got some participators!

So before we dive into this month’s prompt, I’d like to give you a few moments to go back and check out last month’s participants, who wrote some really spectacular stories based on last month’s image, which was–

–that thing.

(whatever that happens to be)

And if you’re still working on last month’s prompt, never you fear, my smol bean! This list can always be edited. Just share your link to last month’s prompt on this post(not this one because that shall only confuse me [as my brain is truly a marshmallow]), and I shall add it to the list as soon as I can.

Now that you’ve gone and gotten a glimpse as to what some other writers have come up with, let us dive into this month’s PictoPrompter!

But first–

Ze Rules Blog Graphic (update)

1. Examine the picture posted below. Don’t be afraid to go all squinty, here. Get a good, looooong look. Maybe you should even tilt your screen a bit. Dim it, brighten it, turn it upside down. It’s really up to you.

2. Let your imagination explode. Feel free to go with whatever your heart is telling you. Does it look like a bloated pink elephant? A squashed potato? A rotten rutabaga? What story ideas are flaring to life in your beautifully insane mind? Let your imagination run wild and…

3. WRITE! This is the absolute best step. Whip out a pen and some ink and get cracking. Only you can write the story floating around in your head. We all may be staring at the same picture, but the story that came to your mind is uniquely your own, so don’t be afraid to write it. Be real. Be funny. Be sarcastic. Be whatever it is you are.

4. Post it! Don’t forget to post your extraordinary story onto the blogosphere! And while you’re at it, make sure to send me a link of your story, either via the comments section or through my contact info on the Suggestion Desk page, (Although the comments section would enable everyone else participating to read your story… [#blackmail]), because I would LOVE to read what you come up with! If you don’t, a wild pack of werebears might come and eat your face while you are sleeping tonight. (Don’t worry. This hasn’t happened since the July of 1803.)

However, if sharing your work just really isn’t your thing, then just feel free to shove it into the dark recesses of your writing drawer and never speak of it again. I’ve done it before. You’ve done it before. I’m betting Jane Austen and J. R. R. Tolkien both did it before. It’s a perfectly natural response.

Except, you’re still going to have to fight off the werebears, so I would think long and hard before you skip this step.

(and yes. I copied this from my last PictoPrompter post [what can I say? I word things perfectly])

And also, I have created a beautiful bloggy button for future PictoPrompters, so don’t forget to pop this onto your post so that it can link back here to me! (Or, you know, just link back to this post so others can participate. Whatever floats your boat, peeps.)

Alright, alright! Now that I’ve had you sit through about thirty interruptions, it is FINALLY TIME to present to thee–

This Month's PictoPrompter blog graphic

Well, there you have it, folks! Your inspiration for the next month! Go ahead. Take a gander. Really get a feel for the story you want to create.

Are you filled with inspiration? Do you feel the creativity buzzing on the tips of your idle fingers? Are you staring into those lifeless eyes of the Peep and wondering what in the world is wrong with Kenzie and her brain?

Because I sure am.

But none of this matters! All you need to do right now is sit down, grab some paper and a pencil, and–

WRITE!

~ a small note to the participants ~

I would like to take just a second to mention that The Smudged Thoughts PictoPrompter is soon going to become a small little game of sorts, if all goes according to plan! This month is just the usual writing prompt, but next month, I’m going to be giving away a smol prize to a randomly selected participator! (sadly it is not cookies) I’m super excited about this, so I hope you guys will continue to participate and have a blast writing with me! Thank you to all the past participators, all the future participators, and all the people who are going to beg me to reveal what the prize is down in the comments.

(hint: i’m not going to tell you)

~ Kenzie :)

  1. I’m super curious about the prize! But I won’t ask.
I think I’ll just say that the peep looks…incredibly disturbing. And I’m sorry I never came up with a story for the last prompt. Abstract whatevers leave me a confused cookie.

    • EEK! I’m super excited about it! I won’t be doing a prize for THIS particular prompt, but next month I will, so you don’t have TOO awful long to wait… :D

Doesn’t it, though??? I love him. He is a disturbing peep… :P And oh, don’t worry! I didn’t do a story for last month’s either, because I was extremely busy with NaNo, and (to be honest) I just wasn’t really inspired to write a short story that didn’t have anything to do with my current WIP??? OOPS. #fail XD

  2. I absolutely love this idea!!! Kenzie, you saved my writerly life!!!!! For the past few months my inspiration has just been having fun leaving me with pretty much nothing to write about, but thanks to this great idea, I think it’s back!!! So thank you so much for this great competition (and the pictures)!! <3 <3 :)

    • Awwww! I’m so glad you like this! I’m serious when I say I thought this was going to be a major flop in the beginning. But people responded to it rather well, so I’m really excited!

Aw, no!!! Inspiration is such a flighty thing… BUT THAT’S AMAZING THAT IT’S BACK!!! I’m so excited to see what you come up with!!! I personally love this little Peep thing. He’s rather terrifying… XD

      • Lol, yes he is rather, ummm, abnormal. :) Btw, I’m kinda confused on how to copy the button… I’m probably the only one stuck with this… but I guess I’ll just copy the link to your post instead?? Oh, and is it alright if I, like, make two stories? My sister gave me a great story idea for this one, but I had already started writing a story. I’m not certain yet if I’ll do two stories, so I probably won’t, but I just wanted to be sure about the rulez on that before I started working on two. :)

        • There really aren’t any strict rules this time around, so I say GO FOR IT!! I shall devour both stories!!!!

And umm… I THINK you just right click the button and click ‘copy image and link’ or whatever it says… BUT I COULD BE WRONG!!! Actually, I probably set the button up wrong, (because I have a severed wire for a brain) but AESTHETICS!!! 😂😂 Just putting a link to the page will work just as fine, though!!!

    • Yep! An entire month! This month won’t have a prize at the end of it, as I still need to…ahem…PROCURE it, but NEXT month’s PictoPrompter will definitely have a prize, with a randomly selected winner! So technically, you have as long as you need to write your story this time around. But if you write it within the month and post your link in the comments, I’ll be able to put it under the Participants banner next month.

Sorry, that was kind of confusing… XD

I’m so excited to see what you come up with! Isn’t the Peep ADORABLE??? *stuffs terrifying Peep in your face*

    • Oh dear!!! It seems like I messed up on there being a prize for NEXT month’s PictoPrompter, and not THIS month’s… ?? I’m so bad at explaining things…. There’ll be a prize for Episode Three, but not Episode Two… I think.

AND THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really love the button… I wasn’t sure it would turn out right, but IT DID AND I’M SO EXCITED!!!!

And now that I think about the prize, I’m starting to wonder if I should do a prize for THIS PictoPrompter, because that seems to be how I portrayed it being??? I’m not sure what to do, because I don’t actually HAVE the prize yet??

      • Ohhhhhhhh I see *glares at you harshly while sobbing into a cookie*
Its a great button. Congratulations on its creation.
Eh, its fine, just edit the post or something XD That’s what I do… #cheater
Or you probably portrayed it find and I just misunderstood you because that’s like what I do all the time…? So. XD

        • NO!!! DON’T GET THE COOKIE SOGGY!! I AK SORRY, DEAR BEAN!!!!

Aww, thank you! I think it spontaneously created itself, to be honest…

Bahahahahaha!!! That is not cheating!! That is called the miracle of EDITING. Obviously. *quickly pastes EDITOR over CHEATER*

No… I’m actually a soggy lima bean when it comes to explaining things… (I just used soggy twice in one comment [three times???])
