The Versatile Blogger Award (in which you discover seven completely random facts about Yours Truly)

Good afternoon, Cyberspace!

You guys will never in a million years guess what has happened to me! (or, you know, maybe you will because of the giant, completely inconspicuous title of this smudge. who knows.)

This past week, as I was scrolling through my severely cluttered WordPress feed, I saw something that gave my heart a stutter. There, smushed between the gazillion book reviews and writerly posts that I am seriously behind on reading, was…

…an award.

For me.

And no no no, it is not the Sunshine Blogger Award, which I believe I’ve done about 2 3 infinity times by now. It is, in fact, the Versatile Blogger Award. (and I totally didn’t have to look up the word versatile what are you talking about hahahahahaha)

Anyway.

I–the cookie queen–have been nominated by the amazing Hope over at The Reader Addict, and I honestly cannot thank her enough. I was really in a scrunch for something to write for this week, because–as usual–I have been too busy to write a blog post due to about three hundred other writing projects that I’ve been working on. And then, right as I was about to give up on writing a blog post for the week–BAM! This award swooped in and slapped me in the face like a giant pretzel.

So thank you SO much, Hope! I really owe you one. Here’s a cookie for your face.

Moving on..

– The Rules –

  • Thank the kind bean who tagged you. . . (I already did this because I’m amazing.)
  • Share seven seemingly random facts about yourself
  • Nominate ten other bloggers of your choice (MWAHAHAHAHAHA! #favoritism)
  • Link your nominees and let them know of your nomination.

And now, without further ado, let us jump right into the smudge!

— The Versatile Blogger Award (in which you discover seven completely random facts about Yours Truly) —

Fact Number One – I Love Rain More Than Sunshine —

Now, this quite possibly ruins the entire Sunshine Blogger Award streak I’ve got going on here, but still this fact remains.

I love the rain.

I love thunderstorms. I love the gentle tap tap tap of raindrops on the roof. I love boiling grey skies that sizzle with magic and hide dragons beneath their dark, torrential clouds.

I even love walking through the rain, which is good, because umbrellas are yet another of my arch rivals.

Umbrellas are made of fabric and pure evil, and therefore can never ever be trusted.

Unless it looks like a duck. You can always trust an umbrella duck.

— Fact Number Two – I Love Love Love Love LOOOOOVE Balloon Pants —

That is correct, dear bean.

I own balloon pants.

And let me just tell you that they are literally the comfiest, most amazing, most adorable pair of pants that I have ever owned.

They even have elephants on them. Because I’m just that cool.

And while it might seem surprising that a girl like me would want a bright pair of balloon pants with super fun and happy elephant prints on them for her birthday, let us just take a moment to remember that–oh wait.

This is not surprising at all.

— Fact Number Three – People Frighten Me —

According to a rip-off version of the Myers Briggs Personality Test, I am officially an ENFP. And if you have absolutely no clue what that even means, allow me to break it down for you–

ENFP stands for Extraversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Perception, which means that I am, by nature, a slap-happy extrovert. I am bubbly. I am hyper. I am a jolly jelly bean who loves to do things and be around people.

Sounds wonderful, right?

Yeah, well, there’s just one teensy tiny little problem.

People are terrifying.

I don’t like them. They are weird. They do weird things and say weird things and sometimes they’re just plain frightening.

And so, because of this most peculiar flaw in my personality type, I fondly think of myself as the introverted extrovert. Sometimes I’m an introvert. Sometimes I’m an extrovert.

It all depends on my mood.

And also if there are cookies available.

— Fact Number Four – I Want To See Mountains Again, Gandalf! MOUNTAINS!

Now, I’m sort of stealing this whole travel thing from Hope’s post, but I really really really want to see some mountains. I want to see the snowcapped peaks and climb their craggly faces. I want to watch the hazy orange sunset sink against their rigid tips.

I want to become a hermit and live in the depths of a secret mountain cave forever, never having to come in contact with the vile species known as humans ever again…

And I’d also like to live in London.

Because London.

— Fact Number Five – I Could Join A Circus —

And don’t you even dare look at me like I just lost the last scrap of marshmallow brain that I’ve managed to hold on to, you uncultured peasant. I could totally join a circus if I wanted to.

In fact, I have insane superhero powers when it comes to flipping and balancing things.

Have you ever balanced a fork on top of a water bottle that’s balancing on top of your shoulder? Ah??? AH????

I didn’t think so.

Ever flip a stainy paint-brush and not get a speck of bright red deck stain on your hand? Ever balance a whirling fidget spinner on your nose? Ever get one snagged in your hair? (wait…) Ever flip a badminton racket into the air so that it does multiple rotations and then catch it again on its way back down?

Ever balance a water bottle on top of your head and pretend like you’re an ancient gypsy who gives terrible and extremely useless advice?

Cause I have.

I’m a superhero, I tell you. A SUPERHERO.

— Fact Number Six – I Am A Shapeshifter

Now, this one might seem a little bit farfetched, and maybe you’re right about that. But if you ask my siblings, I am, in fact, a shapeshifter.

See, aside from having the supernatural ability to flip and balance things like the cool bean that I am, I also have this other power–one that I must control with much greater consideration and care.

The power to completely manipulate my facial structure.

And it all boils down to muscle movement.

You know how the average person has about 43 muscles in their face? (I totally did not just google that) Yeah, well, I think I have about 54.

My face is severely flexible. Too flexible. The expressions I am able to make with this face are so unnatural that you could only find such features etched into rubber at your local Halloween store.

And I love it.

I mean, how many people can say that with one simple, fluid movement, they are able to completely dissolve their entire neck?

Not many, that’s for sure.

My face is a rare life-form all its own. And the fact that I can greatly disturb my siblings with a single look is just a cherry on top of the whipped cream mountain that is my life.

— Fact Number Seven – I Am A Terrible Artist —

Now, there’s always going to be that one bean out there who’s kind enough to say, “D’AWWWW, Kenzie, you’re not a terrible artist! I’m sure you’re absolutely amazing!”

And to you, my dear little bean, I must say “Thank you, but no.

No no. I really am terrible.

You see, I have recently taken up the beautiful hobby of watercolor painting. And while it is amazing and fun and actually a really wonderful stress reliever when you feel like murdering a small civilization with a rusty pitchfork, it has also helped me to form a better understanding of a universal truth buried deep within my smol self–

I am not an artsy person.

And it’s not that I don’t try. I really, really try. But apparently there is just some missing connection between the image I see in my head, and the bizarrely frightening scene that actually forms upon the paper in front of me.

But please don’t get me wrong, dear bean! I am not–in any way shape or form–bashing myself. In fact, it is this now-acknowledged truth that has aided in the creation of a new series for this blog.

Perhaps some of you remember my brilliantly neglected idea for an Arts and Crafts Center here on Smudged Thoughts, and perhaps you have also been severely disappointed by the fact that I literally never went through with this. At all.

But now–now that I know how terrible I really am at Artsing and Crafting–I have made the decision to create a special series on this smol blog. A new series in which I show all you amazing peeps the wonderful way of Artsing and Crafting…Kenzie Style.

I’m honestly really excited about this, Cyberspace. It might even be a video series. Who knows.

I’m not sure when, exactly, it will come into existence, but you can bet your burritos that it will exist.

Someday . . .

(#probablynot)

And that is it! Now that I’ve given y’all my seven random facts about Yours Truly, here are my ten nominations for the versatile blogger award . . .

– The Nominees –

I know, I know. That last one is always a gimme. But hey! If you have a blog and you want to shout seven random facts about yourself into the void, why not give it a shot? It’s actually quite fun, and you just can’t replicate that distinct feeling of fear at having the world read into your personal existence.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for today, folks! Thank you all so much for reading. I truly do apologize for having such a sporadic post this week, but hopefully this satisfied your quench for a weekly smudge.

hopefully…?

Anyway, how is everyone? Have you ever seen mountains? Have you been to London? Do you wear balloon pants, or am I alone on this? Could YOU join a circus??? Are you excited about my new Arts and Crafts series, or do you think it’s a bad idea? And most importantly, if you could shapeshift into a mangled rat or a moldy crescent, which would you pick?

Let us discuss ALL OF THE THINGS down in the comments below!

Until the seven suns rise again . . .

  1. Balloon pants are so fabulous, I could sing their praises all day.

I NEED THIS ARTS AND CRAFTS SERIES CAUSE I TOO CAN NOT ART. PLEASE REPRESENT US, KENZIE.

(also thank you dearly for the nomination, my friend ^-^)

    • YESSSSS!!! I would LOVE to visit the mountains… Or actually LIVE in them, really… And rain is absolutely beautiful, and I want it every single day…. XD

Of course!!! I hope you participate!! And EEK! Thank you so much!

  2. Thanks for the nomination! Once I figure out how it works, I’ll get on that, lol.

Firstly, my sister is an ENFP! She can be the same way: likes being around people, but only when she chooses and is prepared. She’s just as likely to lock herself in her room as the introverts in the house.

Secondly: I have not worn balloon pants, but I have worn Peru pants, which are as comfortable as those balloon pants sound.

Thirdly: I was born in Vermont and I have relatives in Denver and I used to travel to Tennessee every summer with my youth group and I’ve been to Lima, Peru and surrounding areas, so I have seen mountains, and they are all they’re cracked up to be and more. Get you some mountains.

Fourthly: Ditto to the Arts and Crafts series. That is something I could relate to. And don’t feel badly; watercolor is a fickle medium and open to interpretation and experimentation. It all looks good, I promise.

    • Oh, of course!!! And tags are SUPER fun! All you have to do for this particular one is follow the rules I posted above. Basically, you just write a post listing seven random facts about you, post the rules, and tag ten other bloggers to do the tag! They’re super fun!!

Oh goodness, so I’m really not alone!!!! This is joyous news… Apparently all ENFP’s are introverted extroverts, then!!

Ooh! What are Peru pants??? They sound amazing, and I want some now, haha! Balloon pants are like the most comfortable things in the world!!! XD

I’ve actually been to North Carolina once (we went camping in the mountains there quite a few years back) and I am honestly still in love with that trip. I would LOVE to see more mountains, but sadly I live in a state where there are literally no mountains anywhere near me, haha! XD It’s quite a shame… But I SHALL fine the mountains!!! THEY SHALL BE MINE!!!!! And oh my word, you’ve been to PERU??? Is that where you got the Peru pants?? I wanna go to Peru!!!

EEEK! I’m so happy you’re in for the arts and crafts series!!!! It sounds like it’s going to be a hit!!! Watercolor really IS fickle… I love how you described it. You know, it is strange how it all looks good, in a way? As long as your colors aren’t TOO all over the place (like the first project I did XD), you really can’t paint something completely awful…sort of… XD

Thank you so much for this comment, and I hope you’re able to do the tag!!! :D

Yep, that’s where I got them. Our youth and college groups alternate missions trips every year to a missionary near Lima and inevitably at least one member will come home with some. I own several pairs.

I have definitely experienced moments where I layer on too many colors and my painting ends up muddy, but so long as I take it slow things look decent. My sister is really more the artist. She does amazing things with water color. I’m more for pastels and acrylics myself.

I have a Versatile Blogger post in my schedule.

        • OH MY WORD, THANK YOU!!! I will definitely look into this…

That honestly sounds amazing. I’ve never been on a mission trip (due to having to take care of my little bird), but they’ve always sounded like so much fun!!

That is so cool! My sister is definitely more of an artist than I am, but she doesn’t really draw all that much. (She’s amazing when she does it, though) I think I’ve done some things with pastels and acrylics, but not in a really, REALLLLLYYYY long time! XD

          EEK!! I cannot wait!!!!

YOU MUST TRY THE BALLOON PANTS!!! They are honestly the most amazing pants you will ever own!

  4. Oh wow, I’m ENFP too! I can definitely relate that you’re scared of people sometimes. I am (VERY) like, afraid of people sometimes, especially when we visit the city (we live out in the country, so it’s a very big change for me). Actually, we live kind of in the mountains (I mean, they’re not really the big, rocky kind, they’re more like…covered in trees…so more like huge huge hills, with trees instead of grass). But I would like to climb a real rocky mountain (even though it would be very scary).

The Arts and Crafts idea sounds real good, you should do it!

    Liked by 2 people

    • YESSSS!!! *high-fives* We should start an ENFP club!!! XD Oh dear, I totally get it. TECHNICALLY, I live in a city, but it’s a really tiny city, and we live on the outskirts. So I’m not used to TONS of people.

OH MY WORD, YOU LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS????? Tree-y mountains are the BEST!!!! Is it sort of like the hills in the Shire???? This sounds amazing…

Awww, thank you!! I’m pretty confident I’ll go forward with it… I’m hoping it doesn’t fail like the last one, haha! XD

      • lol yeah!

Yeah, it’s so fun! We actually live near the Appalachian Mountains, and one of my brothers hiked the trail (well, ACTUALLY [I love that word, don’t I?!], our house is on the ridge of a mountain, and we’re surrounded by trees, so we can’t even see our neighbors!). And, very coincidentally, it’s raining and thunder-storming as I’m writing this (to go along with your other liking rain (that didn’t make any sense but I’m too lazy to think of the proper thing right now :P) I haven’t watched Lord of the Rings, so I wouldn’t know if it’s like the Shire, but I do know that where we live is extremely nice!

Lol I’m guessing it won’t fail (what do you mean, the last one?! When did anything you posted fail?).

        Liked by 1 person

        • Oh my word!!!! That sounds absolutely amazing… I would LOVE to be surrounded by trees and live on a mountain and just UGH!!! That sounds like Heaven!!

OH MY WORD, RAIN!!!!! I do love rain… Right now it’s very sunny and bright where I am, but that’s okay because today is a sunshine day, haha!

The Shire is this amazingly beautiful place, and it sounds a lot like where you are!!! I think The Shire set from the movies is actually in New Zealand, if I remember right…

Haha, there was a time when I was going to begin an actually HELPFUL arts and crafts series, but I literally never posted a single thing… It was terrible. And also slightly depressing. 😂😂😂

  5. Alright, now I must figure out seven random facts to share about myself…(okay, tagging people will be harder. I basically never tag people. xD)

YESSS!!! RAIN IS THE BEST! Well, okay, I have taken to liking sunshine a liiiitle bit more since I’m trying to swim, but mainly I like rain.
I’ve got to visit a couple of mountains, and I see them in the distance frequently. I can’t imagine a landscape without mountains. YOU MUST VISIT MOUNTAINS!!!
How can you live in London if you find people scary? THERE WILL BE TOO MANY PEOPLE!!! Mountains!!!

The description of your balloon pants is very fitting for you. You will have to try another way to shock us! :D

Oooh…Kenzie style arts and crafts! I have a feeling you will imbue it with a great deal of humor? And honestly, watercolors are pretty hard I think. Though it is easier if you use watercolor pencils, you can be a bit more precise and get darker, sharper colors that way. I haven’t practiced much because I can never find thick paper around that can take the water and I don’t want to buy special paper for it…because then the supply will be limited… :o “Oh, teh nooes!”

    *Hears Myers-Briggs brought up*

Let me introduce you to the Cognitive Functions of personality types. Basically, it makes sense that as an ENFP you feel both extroverted and bubbly, but also feel the need to introvert because because every personality type has both introverted and extroverted functions. Basically, an ENFP has Extroverted Intuition, then Introverted Feeling (hence feeling people can be scary because they may be upsetting some of your closely held values, for instance), and then Extroverted Thinking, and finally Introverted Sensation.

Pretty much, everyone has cognitive functions that sorta mirror each other balance each other out, but the perception and judgment in your four letter title determine your top two functions. And this is getting very long, so I will link to this website at the ENFP section and maybe it will make sense.

    • I cannot wait!!! This tag was so much fun to do!!! XD Tagging people is always the hardest, though…

OOH! Okay, swimming IS really fun!!! I love swimming… So I suppose sunshine can come when I want to swim, haha! XD OH MY WORD!!!!! I would LOVE to have a horizon with mountains!!! That is like the PERFECT horizon… And you make a very solid point, here… MOUNTAINS, IT IS!!! (But I’d also like to live in London for like one year, just so I can write a story based in London… I feel like it would be fun!!! [but also people…blech…])

      Hahaha!!! Why, thank you!!!

EEK! I’m really excited for it!!! I feel like it will be quite humorous… You can’t go wrong with a bunch of sloppy painting, right??? XD I really want to try watercolor pencils!! I actually didn’t know there was such a thing?? But I really do love the paint, too… Perhaps I shall try and use both!!! I got a pad of watercolor paper for my birthday, but I totally get the limited supply problem… It’s a little bit nervewracking, haha!

OH MY WORD!!!! This is so cool!!!! I never knew this??? I will DEFINITELY check that link out!!! Thank you so much!!!! (Also, you explained this really well, by the way, haha!!)

      • I have a draft for the tag! I just need to polish it up a bit…

I think I may have gotten used to sunshine too, where I’m at it pretty much never rains in the summer except for a handful of days, and the rest of the year it returns to normal overcast and on/off rain. But it just rained again today! FALL IS COMING!

Yesss! Mountains are the best things ever! I stick them everywhere in my stories too. Okay, living in London for a year sounds fine. It’s not forever. You can soak up all of the Londony, peopley story fodder there, and then retire to a mountain hermitage and write about everything.
Especially because London is kinda expensive, so you might only be able to afford a tiny hermit hut afterward…

The nice thing about watercolor pencils is you can use them with or without a brush, so there’s more options for techniques, i think. Paper! Precioouuussssssss…..

Oh, good, I always feel like I can’t explain functions concisely enough. I hope you enjoy the link!

That sounds lovely! Rainy days in the fall are the best!!! And EEEK!!! I AM SO HYPED FOR FALL!

That is so cool! I wish mountains fit into my stories… I don’t think they’d make much sense in my current WIP… XD Oh dear!! If London is expensive, I probably won’t be going there. Like ever. XD #frugalandbroke Retiring to the mountains early sounds nice! XD

Watercolor pencils sound amazing!!! Must….try…. YESSSS!!! ALL OF THE PAPERY THINGS!!!!! *hoards paper like the dragon that I am*

You’re actually very talented at explaining things!!! And I’m sure I will! Once I get a spare moment, I’ll check it out and absorb its vast knowledge…

  6. I want to go to London AND see the mountains. I’d also like to go to New Zealand, (which conveniently has mountains) because that’s where they filmed some of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit and YESSS. Just yes.

Being able to shapeshift your face seems like such a fun skill. I can do it to a certain extent, but usually whatever face I’m making has me dying of laughter, so it doesn’t last too long.

Hey! I’m a terrible artist too! #twins. But you should definitely do an artsy segment if you want to!

I suppose I would shapeshift into a mangled rat, mostly because I have no idea what a moldy crescent is. But why is the rat so mangled? Does he have enemies? *shoves spy glasses on* *pokes eye out* (I guess that’s why he’s so mangled.)

    I don’t even know anymore.

Thanks so much for tagging me! I’ll definitely be doing this one – I had a lot of fun reading your facts! – Abi

    • OH MY WORD, YESSSSSS!!!!! I would LOVE to see where they filmed The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit!!! I would literally live in the Shire till the day that I die… XD And New Zealand is just plain beautiful, so…

ANOTHER SHAPESHIFTER!!!! *tackles* It is so nice to find another of my kind!!! I end up laughing quite a bit, too, actually! XD That and my siblings start laughing, which usually cracks me up…

YESSSS!!! We are the terrible art twins!!! I’m pretty excited about this idea, actually! It will be terrible and beautiful at the same time!!!! WHOO!!! XD

Ooh! Interesting choice!!! Haha, I meant a crescent ROLL. I failed to mention that… OOPS! Oh my word!!!! That is hilarious!!!! We now know why the rat was mangled. Repeat: WE NOW KNOW WHY THE RAT WAS MANGLED. XD

YES!! I cannot wait to read yours!!! And you’re most definitely welcome!!!! Thank you for reading!!!!

      • I basically want to live in New Zealand😂

OHHH a crescent ROLL😂 That makes much more sense. I was actually thinking maybe you meant a crescent MOON, but I wasn’t sure how the moon could be moldy. Although since it is said the moon is made out of cheese, I suppose it’s a possiblilty.

        YES. Poor rat.

I’ll (hopefully) be posting it soon! I have this thing called a schedule, nevermind that I have the HARDEST time listening to it. #oops

Eek! I can’t wait! I wish I had a schedule??? I just try to make sure I post every Tuesday, and sometimes I’m writing well into Tuesday afternoons… XD One of my goals for this month is to have a more firm schedule, though! I want to have posts up and ready BEFORE each Tuesday… XD
