The Get To Know Me Tag (Writer’s Edition!)

good morning, cyberspace!

As you can most likely already decipher from today’s lamely transparent title, today we are going to be doing the Get To Know Me Tag! (writer’s edition!)! Because I love doing tags. And I am a writer.

And also because I needed a cop-out post this week since my life has been super crazy hectic and I have not had a chance to come up with something clever and original.

Seriously, guys, I literally cannot even remember the last time I was able to sit down for a solid period of time and work on my book. It has been days. It has been weeks. IT HAS BEEN AN ETERNITY. But — thank the stars — my life finally looks like it’s about to calm down again (assuming I don’t get killed with a jackhammer over the weekend. . .? #demoday)which means that not only will I be able to work on everlost here in the next couple days, but I ALSO have something super special planned for next Tuesday!

Something glorious! Something spectacular!

Something suspiciously like the second installment in the Storytime With Kenzie! series. (*hint hint*)

So. If you can just bear with me for today and let me do this happy little tag, then I can personally assure you that next week you will be able to hear all about the frightening and woeful tale of how I nearly died. Sounds fun, amiright?

So without further ado and guilty apologies, let’s dive right into the tag!

Tag Eleven Bloggers. . . wait what?

. . . THE TAG . . .

— Vital Stats and Appearance —

NAME. . . Mackenzie ***** (lol, you don’t get to know my last name, ya stalker)

NICKNAMES. . . Kenzie. . .? I don’t really have any other nicknames. People call me Kenzie, Kenze. . .that’s about it. I mean, ‘that’s about it’ for nicknames that aren’t special family-given nicknames that shall not be randomly shared over the internet. Aha.

BIRTHDAY. . . Soon!

HAIR COLOR AND LENGTH. . . Golden-brown with reddish tints. . .? I really don’t know the exactly color of my hair, okay? Don’t judge me, peasants. As for length, it’s rather long, but also wavy. So WITH the waves, it comes down to ehhhhhhh. . .a couple inches below my shoulder blades? Give or take a few? If it was straight, however. . . LOLOLOLOL MY HAIR IS NEVER STRAIGHT.

EYE COLOR. . . Weird. Kind of a bizarre mixture of brown and green. Like a turd. But a very pretty shade of turd.

BRACES/PIERCINGS/TATTOOS. . . Ear. . .piercings??? I can jab earrings into my earlobes, if that’s what you want to know. Why you would even want to know this is beyond me, however.

RIGHTY OR LEFTY. . . Righty, unfortunately. I think being a lefty would be cool.

ETHNICITY. . . Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. . .something? I think I’m mostly Irish. Definitely Irish (I’m as pale as a marshmallow, so. . .?), but I think there’s some other stuff (Dutch, maybe?) thrown in there, as well. I am the proverbial melting pot, my friends.

— Firsts! —

Finally! The writing questions!

FIRST NOVEL WRITTEN. . . Oh goodness, I can’t even try to remember what my first novel ever written was. If I had to take a stab in the dark, though, I’d probably have to say it had something to do with talking horses. However, to give a more accurate answer, here are just a few of my earliest remembered works —

  • A novel about a detective named Oliver Crump (pretty much smol Kenzie’s first rip-off of Sherlock Holmes, BEFORE she knew what Sherlock Holmes was. [also Mr. Crump was a terrible detective. just throwing that out there.)
  • A shocking tale of woe about a horde of wild horses (that could talk, of course) who had to flee their beautiful grassy plains because of the terrible and treacherous ‘Rangers’ who were taking over their land (and obviously it was the child-horses who were going to get their land — and the captured members of their family — back safely. because logic.)
  • A story about how a young girl and her parents moved out to the country and so obviously she immediately got a horse because that’s totally the first thing you do when you move to a new house, right? Right. (unfortunately for this story, I was forced to give up on such a work of pure genius because having a main character, her pet dog, and a horse all in one story was just way too much. there were too many characters to keep track of, here.)

And that’s pretty much all I can remember for my first novels. True works of literary genius right there.

FIRST NOVEL COMPLETED. . . That would have to be The Dragon Elements. And I KNOW I’ve talked about this particular book on the blog before, so I won’t go into too much detail here, but basically it  was about–

  • a young prince who was basically the ‘chosen one’ (#specialsnowflake #sopopular)
  • dragons who were forced to fight each other simply for the kingdom’s entertainment (????? what ever happened to dragon equality??? where was PETA during the creation of this book???)
  • an elf (???? [because apparently we’re allowed to throw a random elf into the story, even though there is literally like NO OTHER MENTION {except maybe one} OR APPEARANCES FROM ANY OTHER ELVES IN THIS STORYWORLD???? lol. #sobelievable])
  • elemental dragons who hatched out of random toy eggs from a creepy egg dealer that were supposed to hold gumballs and trading cards and other strange little knickknacks but LOL NOPE. THERE’S ACTUALLY A DRAGON IN THERE.
  • a beautiful green dragon who literally had to DIE just so that our ‘chosen one’ prince dude was forced to ride a completely different dragon (who just so happened to be the most powerful dragon in all the land, obviously) at the end of the book for nothing other than dramatic effect.

To be honest, I’m not particularly fond of this book. BUT — as I have mentioned in previous posts —am looking into doing a revamp of this story! So perhaps  second time’s the charm, hm? Maybe? Please?

AWARD FOR WRITING. . . HA. None. I never even won any of those those stupid Webkinz writing contests. AND I ENTERED SO MANY OF THOSE, YOU GUYS. It was actually kind of shameful, to be honest.

FIRST PUBLICATION. . . I’ve actually never been published. Unless you count my Wattpad story, Gretel, but I don’t exactly count that since it’s not like. . .a traditionally published book or short story. Which is like my SUPER MEGA ULTIMATE DREAM. You know. If you haven’t noticed.

have however, been most splendidly rejected by an anthology company before! I mean, they definitely had ample reason to reject me, as the story I sent in was — to put it kindly — kind of rubbish. BUT IT STILL STUNG, OKAY???

Just a little. . .

CONFERENCE. . . Once again I must give a super boring answer for this and say — I have never been to a writing conference before.

I know. How lame. I’m the lamest chipmunk in the park.

HOWEVER, I’m severely hopeful that this is something that will change in the not-so-near future, because just a few short months ago, I discovered what I believe to be the absolute most amazing writer’s conference in the entire world:

Realm Makers.

And for those of you who have (like me) never heard of Realm Makers before, it is basically THE Christian writer’s conference for writers who don’t exactly fit into the “Christian fiction” mold. Their slogan is literally, “This isn’t your grandmother’s writer’s conference” AND IF THAT DOES NOT SCREAM KENZIE, THEN I SERIOUSLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT DOES. They have super cool authors (TED DEKKER!!!!) that go and give speeches and they’ve got writerly workshops and agents and nerf wars and a cosplay banquet and I just want to go to this thing so badly, guys. So, so extremely badly. Words cannot even describe how much.

But alas. There was absolutely no way I could ever have attended it this year, so I shall just have to be patient and hope and pray for a future that might someday come.

Like maybe next year. . .

. . .or the year after that. . .or the year after that. . .or the year after that. . .or the year after–

QUERY/PITCH. . . I’ve never done this, either. (can you tell how much of a super outgoing writer I am, here? ahahahahaha.) I mean, unless you want to count that one anthology I was rejected from, but HAHAHAHAHA WE’RE NOT COUNTING THAT.

— Favorites! —

NOVEL (that you wrote). . . I’m sure this is a toughie for most writers, but for me, it’s everlost all the way. Absolutely no story or cast of characters has EVER taken hold of my heart the way this book has so far. I do, however, have some super fun plot bunnies jumping around in my head that miiiiiiight just give EV a run for its money, but right now they are nothing more than plot bunnies, and are therefore harmless.

For now.

GENRE. . . Science-Fiction/Fantasy. I used to think I was a high-fantasy girl all the way, but right now my current headspace is caught in the sci-fi/fantasy-with-a-hint-of-steampunk universe, and no matter how hard I try, I cannot get out.

I blame The Lunar Chronicles, personally.

AUTHOR. . . If I seriously have to pick just one, I’d have to choose Jane Austen.

Or Marissa Meyer.

Or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Or L.M. Montgomery.

WRITING MUSIC. . . I’m actually kind of picky when it comes to my writing music. Sometimes I listen to music. Sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I listen to stuff with words, sometimes I listen to the Sherlock soundtrack on an endless loop. It totally depends on my mood, what scene I’m working on, which character is the viewpoint for the scene, and whether or not I’m trying to relax and just get the words down, or if I’m trying to do some hardcore edits.

BUUUUUT. . .some of my favorite songs on my everlost playlist include. . .

  • Bad Case Of Loving You – Robert Palmer (just. . .don’t ask. please.)
  • Killer Queen – Queen (I’M SERIOUS. DO NOT ASK.)
  • Who You Really Are – Sherlock, Season Four
  • Brother Mine – Sherlock, Season Four
  • Fiji Water – Owl City

As you can see, I’ve got a giant assortment of random here. But that’s just the way I roll, peasants.

TIME TO WRITE. . . Again, this totally depends on about a million different factors, but if I didn’t have a life or any obligations whatsoever, I would probably say early mornings. I LOVE writing in the mornings. Watching the soft flames of sun just barely stretching out over the horizon. Listening to the tiny birds outside as they wake up. The silence of the house because literally no one but me is up yet. . .

Ugh, I love mornings.

Unfortunately for me, however, I happen to be somewhat of a nightowl, which means that getting up when I want to is literally a no-go. Because going to bed super late and getting up super early means that sleep=none. And I need sleep to keep my human form alive. And continuing to live is nice. So yes. Usually I just write in the afternoons/late at night if I can swing it.

WRITING SNACK/DRINK. . . I don’t really eat when I write. I end up just eating all my incentive candy and not writing a word because my self-control is exactly 0%. I do, however, find that I am weirdly motivated to write when I have a bottle of water with me? Like staying hydrated actually increases my productivity? IT’S WEIRD, OKAY?

And also I’m that one awkward person that apparently gets a caffeine buzz from water. There is literally nothing about me that is normal, guys, I am so sorry.

MOVIE. . . You’ve Got Mail. Hands down. I also adore Lego Batman, though, so that comes in as my Favorite Movie 1.2.

WRITING MEMORY. . . My absolute favorite writing memory so far was from two April ‘s ago when I finished the first draft of everlost. It was during Camp NaNo, I was in this AMAZING cabin filled with writers who would later become some of my absolute best internet friends, and it was at exactly 1:00 in the morning. My amazing, beautiful cabinmates literally stayed up with me all night until I finished it. They were cheering me on, they were wordsprinting with me, we were screaming and celebrating and probably flinging cookies everywhere, and it was there — in the darkness, hunched on the bottom bunk of my sister and I’s bunk bed, searing my eyeballs into ooze with the harsh glow of a laptop — that I penned the words “The End” and forever burned that glorious moment into my brain meat.

I will never, ever, ever forget that moment for as long as I live.

CHILDHOOD BOOK. . . Probably The Princess and The Goblin by George MacDonald. This book just gives me all of the warm fuzzies.

Even though it’s about creepy goblins with no toes. . .?

AGAIN. NOTHING ABOUT ME IS NORMAL, APPARENTLY.

(I talk a little bit more about my love for this book and the story behind it in this post here, so if you want a bit more of an in-depth look on why that’s my favorite childhood book, then go clicky clicky and check out that link! *points*)

— Currently. . . —

READING. . . Crowning Heaven by Emily Hayse! And HOLY GUACAMOLE IS THIS BOOK GOOD. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to read much of it at all lately (curse you, busy life) but now that I’m finally a little less busy, I am so totally going to binge this book until I finish it. I am so excited, guys.

(and also I shall be writing a full-blown review on it once I’m done, so keep your eyeballs peeled for that in the coming weeks!)

WRITING. . . As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I really haven’t had time to write much of anything over the past couple weeks. But I do have exactly three projects that I need to start cracking down on, so let’s just list those out, shall we?

  • everlost — DUH. This is my main WIP, so 99.9% of my writing time (when I have it) is devoted to this. Also this is the project that is currently frying my brain and murdering my sanity. So. You know. I really love this one.
  • The Little Bookshop of Whimsy — For all of you who have absolutely no clue what this is, let me just redirect you over to this post, where you can read all about my extremely improbable plans for this short, and also when you can expect to see it become serialized right here on Smudged Thoughts! (and also maybe Wattpad? I’m not sure about that one, yet. . . What are you guys’ thoughts on Wattpad? yea yay or nay?)
  • A Video Game Consulting Project Thingy-Ma-Bobbin That I Cannot Go Into Detail On — This actually isn’t my project, but I’m helping someone sort of brainstorm some ideas for a video game they’re making. AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M DOING.

LISTENING TO. . .

  • Be Brave by Owl City
  • You Were Born by Clowd* Cloud Cult
  • A Bunch Of VBS Songs because I’m helping out with music crew for VBS this week! And also I’m helping out with the pre-k’s, and holy cow, they are adorable. And also kind of a handful but whatever. THEY ARE ADORBS.

WATCHING. . . The Blacklist!!! And it is SO SO good. I love.

LEARNING. . .

  • Ukulele
  • Guitar
  • Violin
  • That you can sew 193 buttons onto 16 tentacles in two days, but you probably shouldn’t.

Also I just realized how much music that is. Perhaps I should do a cover of something sometime. . .?

*will never ever do a cover of something sometime*

*I literally spelled ‘cloud’ like that and didn’t even realize it until like five minutes later. have I mentioned that my brain is fried?*

— Future! —

WANT TO BE PUBLISHED. . . YES, PLEASE!!! It is the Ultimate Goal™ after all!

INDIE OR TRADITIONAL . . . Traditional. Mainly because I do not trust myself to be my own boss. Like at all. I would literally be the world’s worst boss, guys. Just ask my inbox.

However, that being said, I have SO much respect for the writers who go Indie! And also I love the word Indie so much that I’ve actually debated doing it just so I can call myself an Indie Author.

Like literally that was the only reason.

WILDEST GOAL. . . Oh goodness, I don’t even know. I guess my wildest goal would be to just write all of the stories I’m meant to write. To write books that mean something and to change this world we live in, even just the tiniest bit. I want to get published, to see my books living happily in a bookstore. I want more than anything to be an author, and every day I strive to make that goal come true. #deep

    • HA! I hope you enjoy doing it!! (Enjoyed? I think you already did this…) Aww man. I’m sorry your NaNo is failing. That’s no fun… :(( BUT I TOTALLY RELATE TO THE FRIED BRAIN. What is it with life lately? It is being SO rude.

        • Same, though. I mean. . .I didn’t even DO it, so at least you tried, right? And who knows! Maybe you could pull ahead???

Seriously, though. It’s like you two were made for each other or something. XD Life and Des. . . Because you will never die. *pats head*

          • I did manage to write some other stuff, maybe it’ll loosen me up enough for Spectra again!

Des: Don’t count on it, I’m totally predicting that everybody dies by the end of this thing. Except for one character. One character who will stand around confused in the rubble and ruins of Civilization, shrug his shoulders, and go be a hermit on a beach.

            Like

            • That usually works!! Sometimes I write little sketches just to get my creative juices flowing again. But most of the time I just leave that writing session with like ten new plot bunnies. XD

. . .is that hermit character you?

              Liked by 1 person

              • Yeah, that’s the danger, MORE PLOT BUNNIES! Unless I focus on it just being some standalone scene. I really ought to write a collection of those, I might get something done…But who can say what I’ll do right now? :P

Dale: I think it’s me in the Cannibal Quentin AU. In canon, I have no idea who would be able to relax after seeing everyone die and the whole universe going empty…(okay, aliens in the fringe probably survived, the nice ones.)

Des: I have no idea, I think Dale is gonna die or he’ll outlast everybody.

                Like

                • EXACTLY. Ooh. I never thought of trying to look at it like that? Usually those little snippet scenes are the things that spark my novel ideas, and then I just sort of expand it into a ten-story saga complete with prequels and sequels and also quills because why not. XD

AH YES. I SEE. You would make a lovely hermit, Dale… Perhaps you should go live with the nice aliens that survived? Nice aliens don’t sound like they’re going to rip your head off….

DES THAT IS SO RUDE. DON’T TELL PEOPLE THEY’RE GOING TO DIE.

                  Liked by 1 person

                  • I’ve come across a lot of snippet ideas that feel like they could cause a whole story, except the build up would be so boring I am entirely apathetic to writing it. xD But such snippets are really useful for developing backstory or worldbuilding.

Dale: Nah, I wanna be a full hermit. Maybe I’ll occasionally visit the aliens.

Des: I am constantly predicting we will all die, this is nothing new, and this is what I do.

                    • Ooh, that’s true!!! I’m pretty sure EV is the ONLY one of my stories that did not evolve from a snippet I randomly wrote… This one came from a very specific image in my head, which I’ve never actually experienced before.
AHA. BACKSTORY. WHAT EVEN IS THIS.

Ah. I see. Well, then enjoy your full hermit life. *waves*

I suppose that is true… But you don’t have to be so FORWARD about it. XD

                    • Oooh, magical mental images! Ugh, now I want to come up with a zillion new stories for the fun of it, but that doesn’t make sense right now. :P

BACKSTORY IS LIFE. AT LEAST IT IS MY LIFE! Literally I make all my stories connect to each other and they’re all in the same galaxy so everything affects everything else…

                      Dale: *Waves goodbye*

Des: Stop telling me what to do.

                      Liked by 1 person

                    • I know, right? It was so cool. UGH SAME!!! But instead I must work on finishing EV so that I may work on a NEW project for the NaNo…. XD

EW. I HATE BACKSTORY. IT BURNS. Actually, that’s not entirely true. I love it when the pieces finally click, but for some of my characters, their backstories were SO difficult to pin down… I think I’ve got them fairly pegged now, though. THAT IS SO COOL, THOUGH. I’ve always wanted to do that with a story but I always fail. XD

I WILL ALWAYS TELL YOU WHAT TO DO, DES.*pats head*

                    • Yes! A fresh story for November sounds great!

Hmmm…by that standard I am constantly swimming in lava…I think country or worldbuilding backstory is difficult for me, but character backstory isn’t, cuz so often I start a character as a kid and just keep following them. But countries…there’s too many possibilities…

Des: What are you, a control freak? I don’t like control freaks at all.

                    • Doesn’t it?? I’m actually kind of excited. I LOVE new stories. And I also think EV is ready for a bit of a break.

YES. YES YOU ARE. 😂 Yeah…I’m kind of bad with all the backstory things. Characters, overall world….it’s all so confusing, and I tend to forget most of the important details I think up spontaneously.

Actually, no. I just like seeing you suffer. 😇

                    • I have no idea what November holds for me. A brand new story would be nice since I’ve been working on Spectra for a year. NaNo just needs a fresh draft for spewing 50k words out. Otherwise it’d be too much pressure for me.

I think we are opposites on backstory. xD I wonder what other contrasts we have in storycraft…

Des: Is there ANYONE who doesn’t like to see me suffer??!!! >:[
                      Sheyla: Me. :'(

                    • Yeah, this NaNo is gonna be pretty weird. For the first time in my life, there is absolutely no debate on what I’m going to be writing for NaNo. AND it’s a brand new story, and I’ve got a solid month of just PREP planned, so…?? WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY NORMAL PLANTSER WAYS??? Have I…have I become a plotter????? *screams in fright* And YES. I tried doing some editing during last year’s NaNo (#rebelsftw), but…it didn’t go so well. As I’m sure everyone from the Dare Squad can remember. Ahahahahaha.

OOOH. I don’t know but this needs further discussion. ARE YOU A PLOTTER? A PANTSER? DO YOU WORK ON MULTIPLE STORIES OR JUST ONE? DO YOU LIKE WRITING SHORT STORIES AND NOVELLAS? DO YOU LOVE WORLDBUILDING? DO YOU WRITE ON PAPER OR COMPUTER???

And also Astarta, Des. Astarta doesn’t want to see you suffer! XD

                      Liked by 1 person

                    • A solid month of planning sounds awesome! I would like to start planning, but I feel like I need to focus on current projects rather than what I’ll write in 1.5 months…
You still need to post that dare result before NaNo… >:)

I’m pretty much a plantser. I tend to start making stuff up as I go, and then once I can’t think of anything else, I have to step back and go into Mega Plotter Mode and give myself a direction to follow. So, I probably am mostly a plotter, but I gotta be flexible as well, so I stay in the messy middle.
I always have multiple stories on my mind and dabble in them, but Spectra has really taken over all my writing efforts, so it kinda feels like I’m only writing one story. I don’t like making short stories. Or at least I never ever do it. I wish I could write a novella, but…all my big stories seek my attention, so I just can’t manage it.
Lotsa worldbuilding. It’s a bit random and sporadic at times, but my mind will also just come up with sudden ideas that add a lot of richness. Mostly on computer right now, cuz I want to track wordcount, but I also like paper, and I draw on paper way more.

Astarta: Actually…I…I tease him, so…that’s kinda liking to see him suffer…
Sheyla: I’m your only true friend, Des.
Des: What about Rob? I can talk to him and he doesn’t bother me at all! Nor the Void Lord…Begone, foul Kaldoan!
                      Sheyla: :'(

                    • DOESN’T IT, THOUGH??? I mean, the beginning might still have a bit of EV stuff in it (in fact, I’m 100% sure it will) but I’m still hoping to have quite a solid chunk of time to just PLAN, and this excites me greatly. And also yes… XD EV comes before T, it would seem…
JETHAN. I AM PERFECTLY AWARE OF THIS. XD

I think I’m a plantser, too… Except lately I’ve been realizing that I actually DO need a solid idea of where the story is going, so this NaNo, I’m going to try the great and terrible Plotting. I think my aversion to it before was that I never really wanted to just sit down and try to map out where the story was going to go. I was too lazy. :P But now that I’m starting to get really serious about my books, I think I want to give straight up plotting a try.

Oh, yeah, I totally get this!!! And Spectra is GINORMOUS, so it doesn’t really surprise me that it’s taking over your mind right now. XD I typically don’t write short stories, either, but lately I’ve been noticing the happiness in them. I think there’s something sweet about writing something so small and just FINISHING it, without having to worry about where it will go next… OOH. THIS IS A PROBLEM… Perhaps you could try to write a novella-form version of one of your main stories??? It might help you realize the general plot without all the subplots, actually…

MEEEP! WORLDBUILDING!!! I am so excited, because T HAS worldbuilding!!!!!!!!! Unlike everlost. . . I mean, EV has SOME worldbuilding, but not a lot until book two. OH MY GOODNESS THAT IS SO COOL. Can I have your sporadic worldbuilding techniques, please??? I’m not sure if I’ll worldbuild on paper or computer… That’s definitely something to think about when I go to outline T.

OH MY GOODNESS. I FEEL SO BAD FOR SHEYLA. My poor smol cinnamon roll… :(((( Des is such a meanie. *pats his head*

                    • I feel like I can’t plan ahead for anything, because I never know what mood I’ll be in and what I want to write. I can only plan outlines so once I’m in the mood for something I can write a bit more of it.
                      OH GOOD, THIS IS EXCELLENT!

Yes, plotting is very helpful! And it doesn’t even have to be super tidy to start being effective. I do need to do more plotting…for several stories. Maybe all of October and November will be a solid bunch of endless outlines for endless stories forged into perfection.

Spectra completely overshadowed Thren, even during its birthday month. xD
A finished short story would be nice, and I keep wanting to get a novella of Spectra’s beginning out, but it never quite works. I guess I can’t break it apart from the whole.

YAY! WORLDBUILDING IS WONDERFUL! I hope T is immensely fun! I’m not sure how to give you the sporadic magic, but having a fairly large world to build helps I think.

Des: Shouldn’t you pat Sheyla’s head? She’s the one crying, not the one glaring at you!
Rob: Yeah, and about that part about me not being mean to you…Not happening if you are mean to Sheyla… >:(
                      Des: <:(

                    • Oh, I’m definitely with you on that. I need to stop telling myself I’m going to do as many things as I typically do, tbh. I can never accomplish all that I want to due to unforseen circumstances or lack of time and motivation. HOWEVER, I HAVE started outlining my goblin book, and I can honestly say that I am SO SO EXCITED ABOUT IT. I have a feeling that this year’s NaNo is going to be AMAZING.

That could work! October is definitely a good month for outlining I feel like. And you could always be a rebel for NaNo and work on your plotting! But I’m still so excited to be there when you finish your first first draft…

Oh no!!!! 😂 Poor Thren. It just wanted to have a good birthday… Yeah. I’ve heard writing tips where apparently writing your full-length novel as a novella or short story first will help with figuring out the main plot threads, but I’ve never actually been able to do this. My stories continually grow into massive beasts, and there is naught I can do to stop them…

I have a feeling that T WILL be immensely fun!!! Which excites me greatly. XD Having a large story world is both exciting and terrifying. On the one hand, there are so many endless possibilities. On the other, it still needs a name, and there are almost too MANY possibilities. 😂 Having the whole thing be fantasy doesn’t help much, either. XD

YEAH, ROB. YOU TELL HIM. *pats Des’s head*

                    • It’s true, we can’t do a million and one things. Alas! ):P
I think this NaNo will be great. And I definitely switched back and forth a lot on what to write, so I predict EVEN MORE SPECTRA! some Elda, and a bunch of random story scraps.

I did not outline nearly as much as I thought would be good. xD Oh well, I have ideas buzzing around, so I feel like I’m a total pantser for some things and a Mad Plotter for Spectra. And, I’m gonna try to focus on narrative for NaNo, it’s nice to actually have that stuff be immersive and not plans. I need that first draft!!! <:O At least for Book 1… <:|

*Pats Thren on the…north pole? Hence pushing it out of its normal orbit and destroying everything*
Me: Don't worry, it was only the very cartoony form of Thren that will instantly recover and reverse everything that just happened.
I don't think I've heard that novella before novel tip before. I guess it kinda makes sense, but I haven't approached stories that way before. Kinda makes me think of my first story with Kitallia. It was pretty bare bones and the plot moved quickly and unrealistically.

WELCOME TO THE LAND OF ENDLESS WORLDBUILDING FUN!!!!!
                      And wailing. but mostly fun.

                    • #TRUTH. And OH MY GOODNESS THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN AMAZING PROJECT ASSORTMENT. Meanwhile I’m being Typical Kenzie and only working on one story. #lame. XD

Okay, but like same. I wanted to have a solid outline before November, and yeah. That did NOT happen. But like, I’m relishing in my plantser self, so??? I think it’s a win. XD AND ASDFGHJKL I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOUR FIRST FIRST DRAFT!!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!!

                    • I’ve done mostly a secret story and Spectra. I haven’t written anything for Elda yet. I think I just wanted to rebel from my plans. And maybe it was good sense, why should I start another story to leave incomplete when I need to finish the ones I already have made a chunk of progress on?

It’s nice that we can still write even if we don’t have a “perfect” outline. xD
YEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!! I NEED TO GET THIS THING DONE! So naturally I’m thinking about a scene in a later section. :P

                    • Ooh. I still love that, though. I’ve been working solely on TGATGK, but my nights are mostly made up of dreaming about EV. It’s a really weird feeling… And that is a VERY good point. Finish what you’ve started first, and THEN you can focus on the other ones. Or, as I’m currently trying to do, finish one draft of what you’ve started first, then start something else to give the other one a break. XD

YESSSSS! Thus is the beauty of writing. XD
HA. HAHAHA. AHA. *is currently doing the exact same thing*

    • LOL, SO DID I, THOUGH. 😂😂😂 I need to plot it out a bit, but other than that, I have some very interesting ideas for it, so I’m PREEEEETTY excited. XD
I FINISHED THE OCTOPI!!! They are adorable. I shall have a picture of them in next Tuesday’s post, actually! XD And all of the instruments are….slightly hard. But I’m trying, and I think that’s what truly counts, you know?

EEEEP! Thank you so much, Kirsten!!! I’m so glad you’re excited. That makes ME excited, which is honestly super nice, cause I’ve been in a bit of a rut lately. :P

  2. You should totally fix up The Dragon Elements and see how it is!! After all, it is a finished piece!! XD

Ooh, your hair sounds like what I’ve heard some people call “strawberry blonde”. So like blonde hair with a reddish tint to it. My niece has that. :P So yours sounds like a “strawberry brunette” color?? Maybe that’s a way to explain it, I don’t know! XD

Eek, you know so many instruments!! Ukulele?? Nicee!!

Eek, there’s so much I need to catch up on your blog, but thank you so much for nominating me!! :)

OOOH. YES. I’ve heard of Strawberry blonde before, too!! But yeah, it’s a bit more brown than blonde. Strawberry brunette sounds awesome. I’m totally stealing that. XD

I wouldn’t say KNOW them, but I’m definitely trying to learn them! It’s kind of difficult. XD I KNOOOOOOOW! I love my tiny uke so much! I only just recently got him, so I’m really excited to learn how he works.

Oh goodness, don’t even get me started on the blogs I need to catch up on. I’m so behind on everything at the moment. XD BUT YOU ARE SO WELCOME!!!! I hope you’re able to do it!!!

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *runs away with flailing arms akimbo*

Why, yes. Yes, he does. Obviously you know me too well. XD His name is Flea. Because the name Ukulele roughly translates into Jumping Flea. So obviously I had to name him the Little Flea. XD

MWAHAHAHAHAHA! I shall have you writing monstrous posts yet!!! I AM DEFINITELY CHECKING IT OUT!!!!! Thank you so much for the link!!!

YESSSSSS. I honestly just want to get a giant group of us together simply so that we can compare our skin tones and see who truly is the palest of them all. XD DUDE, SAME!!!! I either burn, or continue to stay pale. And even when I DO tan, I'm still a marshmallow compared to everyone else. It's ANNOYING ARGH!!! XD
