good morning, cyberspace!
Fun Fact: I’ve recently received two nominations for this tag, which means this is NOT going to be the last Liebster Award you see from me in the weeks to come. I debated just squishing both the nominations together, but like . . . yeah. I’m tired and don’t want to answer 22 questions in one go. SO WE’RE JUST GONNA DO THIS TAG TWICE, FOLKS.
On separate days.
Because #lazy.
(and i mean this also gives me a get-out-of-post free card next month when I’m in the throes of VBS and am silently dying inside as Time slips away from me like the filthy mongrel he is.)
Ahem. ANYWAY. Our nomination today comes from the ever-wonderful Kinsey from Over The Withers, and I know I say this pretty much every time I receive a tag, but seriously, guys. You should 100% check out this bean’s blog. She’s so sweet and fun and I just love her to bits, okay? So go check her out, peasants.
or I might stab you with a rusty pitchfork. just a warning.
I’d also love to give a huge shout-out to Kinsey, because A) she was super sweet and tagged me for this?? And like I ADORE tags, so this was a very happy surprise, and B) SHE ASKED SOME OF THE MOST AWESOME QUESTIONS OF EVER. Like seriously, the creativity is off the scales with this one, folks. I’m really excited to get to answering these, so we’re just gonna skip over the awkward intros and dive right in.
But first . . . ze rules.
— THE RULES —
- Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you! . . . Thank you SO SO much, Kinsey!!! I am so excited to do this tag, and I cannot thank you enough for tagging me! <333
- Answer the 11 questions you’ve been asked
- Give 11 random facts about yourself . . . *sweats nervously*
- Nominate 11 bloggers and notify them that they’ve been nominated
- Give your nominees 11 questions to answer!
— THE TAG —
i . . . What is something your family does that you’re pretty sure other families don’t do?
Two words. HIVE MIND.
My family has this wonderful (*sarcasm*) knack for inserting ourselves into each others’ memories, even if we weren’t even there when said memory took place. It can get kind of confusing when trying to figure out who actually named our cat Twix, or who came up with that funny joke, or which one of us murdered the guy rotting out in the garage. . . . . .
ii . . . What is your favorite animal? (can be real or imaginary)
Well, my favorite animal is definitely my cockatiel, Durachi (yes, yes, i know this isn’t technically what this question meant, but STILL.). But if we’re just going by animal type, then I’m probably going to have to say dragon.
Because DRAGONS. Is there really anything more classic and cool than a fire-breathing, marshmallow roasting, snarky-talking dragon? I THINK NOT, MY GOOD SIR. And also my bird is technically my own personal shoulder dragon, so I mean?? I think this answer is a win-win.
iii . . . What has been your most pump-up song in 2019?
Ooh. This is a difficult question. A lot of the songs I’ve been listening to so far this year have been on the sadder side, because I’ve A) been working on the end of everlost, which–as I’m sure my mom can assure you–has some sadder bits to it, and also B) I’ve been curating the playlist for SK, which is . . . also very sad music-wise.
someone please send help, i think my stories are depressed.
HOWEVER. Earlier this year my parents and I were out and about and discovered this absolutely FANTASTIC song called No Roots by Alice Merton, and it is literally the best pump-up song. Seriously. I 10/10 recommend giving this one a listen.
iv . . . Coffee or tea? (additionally, what do you put in them, if anything?)
Neither, unfortunately. But SHHHHHH. Don’t let that get out or the writing police will take away my writing badge.
Honestly, I don’t really need any caffeine in my diet. I know a lot of people my age can’t seem to cope without some sort of caffeinated beverage in their system, but I’m quite all right just as I am. And I’m sure anyone who’s met me can attest to the fact that I’m quite hyper enough as is, thank you very much.
However, if I have to pick a favorite hot beverage, it would be hot chocolate.
With whipped cream on top.
And cinnamon sprinkled over the cream.
Ahem.
v . . . Favorite quote/saying that you say often?
Oh goodness, I love this question! So I have quite a few favorite quotes, and a few things that I say quite often, so I’m just gonna list some of them out here. . .
QUOTES
i. “Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self” — Cyril Connolly
ii. “It’s not impossible. Merely un-possible.” — The Cheshire Cat
iii. “And honey, you should see me in a crown.” — Jim Moriarty
iv. “Jim Moriarty. hi.” — Jim Moriarty
v. “She believed she could, so she did.”
THINGS I SAY A LOT
i. “Wait what?”
ii. “It’ll be what it is.”
iii. “*insert some sort of apology here*”
iv. “Wait . . . what?” (seriously, though, I say that one a LOT.)
vi . . . What do you do to destress?
One word: R-E-A-D.
If I’m stressed out about something, the most relaxing thing I can think of to do is curl up with a really good book and just escape for a little while. Unfortunately, this usually means that I get sucked into the book world for days on end and refuse to return until my brain is bursting with words and my fingers are itching to type, but I mean that’s also great for productivity, right? Right.
Except for the days that I skip writing because I’m reading, of course, but we’re just going to forget about those.
Movies are another really good stress-reliever for me, but I usually only binge movies when I’m feeling low and need a MEGA escape from all thought.
Another really good stress-reliever is taking time to play with my little bird. For some reason, no matter HOW horrible a day I’m having, he can always manage to cheer me up and make me feel 100 times better.
vii . . . Are you organized? (stealing from Maysa)
No.
viii . . . What is your favorite other language to listen to/find words in? 🙂
So I’m not sure if this is technically an acceptable answer for this question, but I would probably have to say sign language! I mean, I know you can’t listen to it, but I just find it so magical that people are able to talk with nothing but their hands. There’s a beauty in sign language that just doesn’t exist in verbal communication, and that’s part of the reason why I’m trying to learn how to speak it this year.
ix . . . What’s your current favorite TV show?
When I initially started writing this blog post, my answer to this question was Doctor Who. I then let this post sit in my folder for about fifty years, and now–unequivocally–the answer has to be Sherlock.
I mean, like it or not, there is literally no comparison to this show. The characters are unique beyond imagination, the plot is tight and action-packed, the writing is phenomenal, the music is perfection, the acting is superb, Moriarty. . . What is there NOT to love about this show?
Bendydoodle Cumberstraw takes Sherlock Holmes and brings him PERFECTLY into the current day and age, and Morgan Martin Freeman is the best Watson there will ever be. Not to mention that this version of Moriarty is a complete work of genius. You just can’t get any better than this rendition of Sherlock Holmes, folks.
x . . . Favorite outdoor activity?
Would it be incriminating to say that I don’t really go outside very much????
Okay, so I don’t go outside very much. Like at all. Ahem. However, it is FINALLY starting to turn a little bit summery and spring-like here in the great oven mitt, which means I’m probably going to spend more time out in the great unknown outdoors, and less time holed up on my laptop trying to figure out which Disney Princess I am. SO. My favorite outdoor activity is probably . . . writing outside.
OKAY, OKAY, I KNOW THIS ISN’T THE INTENDED ANSWER BUT COME ON.
(in all honesty, though, I really do like hiking? like taking a walk through a park and seeing all the trees and flowers and climbing over roots and stuff is the most wonderful thing, in my opinion. . .)
xi . . . Favorite indoor activity?
Probably reading. Again.
I mean, there’s a TON of stuff I love to do inside. (thus the reason why I stay holed up indoors all day long. ahahahahaha. haha. ha.) I love reading and writing and watercolor painting and playing my uke and my violin. I love watching movies with my family, playing games (both board and video), spending time with my birdie, and basically just anything that’s creative and fun. Indoors is where it’s at, people. XD
— 11 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT YOURS TRULY —
This is the part of the tag that I ALWAYS struggle with. Like there’s this really thin line between admitting to innocently interesting facts about yourself and blatantly oversharing, and I prefer to keep my blatant oversharing to my StoryTime’s With Kenzie. So. We’ll see how well this goes:
- I have a really random yet severe obsession with Jim Moriarty from Sherlock. I know. Shocking.
- I once had a (really stupid) dream that made me laugh so hard I woke myself up. And then I kept laughing.
- I have a deep, indescribable fear of the ginormous creatures (like giant squid and Nessie) that live really, really, really, really, REALLY deep in the ocean. Like so deep down that no one knows they even exist. But they are tHeRe and they are terrifying and I shudder just thinking about it. . .
- I got to see Lindsey Stirling live in concert!!!! It was the most amazing concert I’ve ever been to, and I’d love to get the chance to go again someday.
- My middle name is the same as my mom’s (which, of course, is the reason I love it so much)
- Sometimes, when I’m in a really bad creative slump, I flop onto the floor like a limp potato and groan out “I don’t want to be a writer anymore” before I hoist myself up and get back to writing.
- I’ve binge-watched Doctor Who till one in the morning before. (maybe even later, but I ain’t owning up to it.)
- I have a strange infatuation with stars, moons, and just the night sky in general. I don’t know a TON about astronomy
yet, but it’s one of the subjects I absolutely fell in love with in school, and I’d love to continue learning about it. - I used to be TERRIFIED of roller coasters, but after facing my biggest fear (*cough the Magnum XL cough*) I realized that I absolutely adore them and laugh maniacally every single time I’m on one. (it’s kind of disturbing to the people sitting around me, tbh…)
- Once I ate a greasy waffle before going canoeing, and it made me REALLY sick when we were out on the water. I still gag a little bit every time I think about it.
- My favorite color changes by the day, but today it is a really pale, soft yellow.
Whew. That’s done. Now it’s time to nominate eleven of you to do this tag! (or…I’ll TRY to nominate eleven of you? Goodness, do I even know eleven people??? AND WHY ARE THERE SO MANY ELEVENS???)
TAG! YOU’RE IT!
Holy guacamole. I actually know eleven people. . .
ALL RIGHT, FOLKS! Now that you’ve been tagged, I’m gonna leave a nice, looooong list of questions for you to answer! (hopefully they’re good?)
— THE QUESTIONS —
What’s your favorite read of 2019?
Dogs, cats, or birds?
If you lived in the world of Harry Potter, what memory would you think of to summon a Patronus charm?
What would your Patronus be? (it doesn’t have to be whatever you were given by Pottermore!)
What’s a book that you believe literally EVERYONE should read?
What’s the oddest fear you’ve ever had?
Besides writing and reading, what do you like doing in your spare time?
What’s your favorite color?
What’s your favorite flower? (and do you know the meaning behind it?)
What is one thing you’ve ALWAYS wanted to do, but haven’t yet done?
Write a haiku about the weirdest memory you’ve ever had! (this isn’t a question. just go with it.)
And that, my friends, is the Liebster Award! Before I sign off, I would like to give yet another HUGE thank you to Kinsey for tagging me!!! I had so much fun answering all of your questions, Kinsey!! Thank you so much! *tackle hugs*
As I mentioned before, I have a second (more recent) nomination for this tag, so I’ll probably be doing that one in little while, too. But I already have some posts planned for the next couple weeks, so that should be interesting. . . (we’ll have to see if I actually get them written. Aha.) *crosses fingers*
TALK TO ME, PEASANTS!
Do you have any favorite quotes or sayings that you use often? Are YOU an organized bean? (because I really, REALLY am not.) Can you tell that I wrote the majority of this post the morning of posting it? *sweats nervously* What’s one random thing about yourself that you haven’t yet spilled onto the internet? and most importantly. . .
ARE YOU SCARED OF NESSIE, TOO???
please tell me I’m not alone. . .
As always, let’s talk about ALL OF THE THINGS! down in the comments below! And until next time. . .
Featured Image Is Nonexistent Because It’s Late And I Want To Post This
Wait, did you tag me? Thank you!
And no, I’m not scared of Nessie (she has such a cute name!), but I used to be really scared of barracuda and giant squids and things like that. Of course, I don’t think barracuda are very dangerous to people, and squids are…basically harmless, I think? I’m pretty sure squids are harmless.

Well this was a delight! But I mean, of course it was. ALL Kenzie posts are delights. ALL OF ‘EM.
I loved learning all these random tidbits about you! YES TO DRAGONS. Always the best animals! But I also love that your bird is like your shoulder dragon. That is the greatest!
SHERLOCK AND DOCTOR WHO ARE EVERYTHING THE END. (And, giiiirl, the first time I was watching Doctor Who I’d stayed up ’til 1 in the morning like EVERY night binge-watching. It was bad. XD)
Okay, but your answer to the outdoor activity question is SO ME it’s kinda scary. Outdoor things are just…nope. Not my thing. I mean, the SUN is out there. And bugs! And nature. :P Hehehe. Okay. I do adore trees and flowers and fresh air. Buuut just to walk around and write by. Big outdoor activities? NOPE. I’m so so so with you!
You got to go to a Lindsay Stirling concert??? DREAM. COME. TRUE. That is epiiiic!
So I kind of get you on big scary things deep in the ocean! For me it’s not only giant things but just OCEAN THING. The ocean terrifies me. There’s so much weird stuff down there and it’s dark and you can’t breathes and and and *shudders* Yeeeah, I’m not a big ocean person. I mean, it’s outdoors, so. ;D
ANYWAYS. Thank you soooo much for tagging me! The questions you came up with are GREAT! Love ’em!

I’d actually love to see Nessie… I just don’t want to be in the water when that happens.
I love that last ‘question’ of yours– I look forward to seeing what the other bloggers do with it!
