Yo-ho, Cyberspace!
I…don’t even know why I put that.
Or why I’m keeping it.
Yet stay it shall.
Anyway, as I said in my last Smudge, I have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award!
Twice!
Once by Kate (whose questions I answered in my last post, so go check those out here), and once by monkeyeverything, whose questions I am about to answer right now!
But first, ze ruleses:
1. Answer the 11 questions of the tagger person
2. Tag 11 people of your choice (assuming you know 11 people? [you could tag robots, I suppose])
3. Post 11 questions for your nominees to answer
(All these 1’s are beginning to make me think of Bilbo’s 111st birthday… [pronounced eleventy-first, for those who have never watched/read Lord of The Rings])
Anyway, now that we’ve laid down the malleable firm foundation of rules, it is time to leap straight into the questions as if it were a giant marshmallow boingy!
Let us begin…
1. What’s your favorite food to eat while writing?
Ooh! A foodie question! My favorite!!!
I think it’s a toss-up between skittles and peanut butter popcorn, with peanut butter popcorn coming in a severely close first…
Seriously, if you have never had peanut butter popcorn, you are missing out. Go get some.
Like right now.
Unless you have a peanut allergy, because that might not end well.
2. What’s the first thing you would do if the world began to burn up?
Start screaming.
No, really.
Well, first I might laugh maniacally, because hey. We all know I’d be the one to start the flame in the first place.
And then fan it.
Ferociously.
(I’m the perfect nominee for the Sunshine Award, wouldn’t you say? I’m so full of light and happiness! [hahahahahaha])
3. What’s your favorite author and why?
Ugh… This one is tough… It’s a very close tie between Marissa Meyer and J.K. Rowling. Had you asked me around three weeks ago, I would have said Marissa Meyer hands down.
And then I saw Fantastic Beasts.
So yeah. J.K. Rowling and Marissa Meyer.
#rulebreaker
4. How many books have you read that you’ve not enjoyed?
Another tough one… Hmmm…
I’d have to say somewhere around 7-ish? Maybe more?
Probably more.
I honestly have no idea.
5. Who’s your favorite character from literature?
Ooh! This one is slightly easy!
I’m going to have to go with Carswell Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles.
Because Thorne.
6. What are your goals for future blogging?
This is actually a really amazing question.
My goals for future blogging include the following:
- Get more of my followers to comment (because I’ve got like 54 followers and only, like, three commenters?????? what??????)
- Get an Arts and Crafts section up and running (which revolves around bookish and writerly things, obviously)
- Set up my Poet’s Corner (because apparently I like to write poetry???)
- And also to just enjoy the blogging process, use it to keep myself motivated to write, make bloggy friends, and just have fun with it.
- Oh! And my Picture Prompts section!
More info on all of these lovely things to come at a later date, so stay tuned, folks!
7. How many character have you murdered in your books? (approximately)
In all of my stories???
Alright, we’re gonna be here for a while.
Wait? You just wanted a number?
Oh, no no no. That won’t do.
DEATH TALLY
The Dragon Elements (2012? [Completed Book])
- Lela
- Some kid with glasses that I can’t remember his name??? (It might have been Larry?)
- Zathos (which I regret…)
- Some girl I can’t remember her name? (She had hair like Medusa, if I remember correctly…)
I think that’s about it for that book… There might have been others, but that was a LONG time ago, so these are just the highlights.
The Hunt (2015-2016??? [Short Story])
- Berenz
A short tally for a short story… (This also was not a very good short story… [needed more death])
Gretel (2016 [Novelette])
- A village full of children (which happened over centuries, I think, so approximately 350? Give or take a few???)
- Grandmother’s daughter
- Grandmother’s daughter’s husband
- Grandmother’s granddaughter
- Grandmother’s granddaughter’s husband
- Ect. ect. ect.
- Grandmother’s great great something grandchildren
- I’m not giving away the book but SOMEONE ELSE DIES AS WELL
everlost (2016 [Rough Draft Novel {incomplete}])
- A haircutter lady
- A house full of relatives to a main character (eg. a grandmother and grandfather, two aunts, two uncles, three cousins, a great grandmother, ect.)
- Same character’s mother and father
- Three scientist men
- A bunch of other people that I have not yet figured out how or who (around 13 people, probably???)
There’s probably some more that I missed, along with other stories that I never completed, but as it stands, I’m only going with the ones that I finished.
Because I will finish everlost.
Totally.
8. If you could pick ANY creature in this world… (or in a book) what kind of creature are you like? And why? (make sure to describe it so we all know what the creature is like! Unless it’s something universally known like a koala…)
Oh dear, this question is hard…
I’d have to go with a chipmunk.
And now you’re probably asking why a chipmunk.
Well, for starters, I tend to be a very fast person. I’m constantly bopping from thing to thing, flying away and chattering nonstop.
I’m also rather small and chubby.
And I like hiding in holes.
And my mouth is usually packed with candy.
So yeah. Chipmunk.
(I have also been called a chipmunk, which I try to take as a compliment.)
9. What’s your favorite movie and filmscore composer? (filmscores are the music from movies if you were wondering. If you don’t have one, then just music is good too
)
Oh! Oh! The guy who does stuff for Tim Burton!
Danny Elfman??? Is that his name?
Anyway, it’s that one guy.
10. If you had a choice between standing on your head for five minutes while eating a hamburger and doing jumping jacks for twenty-five minutes straight, which would you choose?
Standing on my head for five minutes while eating a cheeseburger.
Because I love cheeseburgers, and they’re like my favorite food.
I’ve also always wanted to stand on my head, so double-win, right?
11. In regards to your favorite character’s hobbies (see #5) which is your favorite?
Ummm… Does Thorne really have any hobbies? Stealing stuff, I guess…
Maybe his hobby of always coming up with sarcastic remarks.
Yep. Totally that.
Alright, so that’s it for the questions, and now on to the tagging! (in which I copy and paste what I wrote in my last post [#easy])
My first tag is Cait at Paper Fury, because (1) her blog makes me laugh so much (and sunshine is laughter) and (2) I haven’t seen where she’s been tagged yet???? (which I’m probably wrong, but OH WELL.)
My second nomination is Hannah over at Utterly Write, because she is an amazing friend and writer, and she is a very sunshiney person, so she totally deserves this award/tag thing!
My third nomination is Amanda over at Scattered Journal Pages, because her posts are always so uplifting, and just so full of sunshine!
My fourth nomination is Kit over at Come, Rest a While, because I absolutely love her blog, and also because she’s a wonderful, sunshine-filled person.
And I actually have a fifth nomination, because as I was writing this, I was struck with the realization that OH MY GOODNESS I FORGOT SOMEONE!!! (Which sadly happens because I’m a scatterbrain.)
My fifth nomination is Shay from I’m a Writer, I Write, because firstly, I LOVE HER BLOG, secondly, I LOVE HER BLOG NAME, and thirdly, because she totally deserves this award!
And if I forgot even more people, be sure to call me out in the comments and tell me what a loser I am. I shall be sure to offer cookies and burgers in apology.
And now for your questions!!!
I have never had peanut butter popcorn, but it sounds like something I need to eat… it sounds amazing, although I’ve never heard of it before. Is the peanut butter still soft or hardened onto the popcorn??
Thorne is hilarious. I discovered the Lunar Chronicles this summer, read them all at once, and ADORED all of it. (Though for some reason, I don’t ship Cresswell but I ship all the other ships. Not sure why…)
Yesyesyesyes an Arts and Crafts section!! Especially if they’re bookish and writerly crafts!
Your death tally is a waay higher than mine. I don’t actually kill very many characters, for some reason? In my current WIP, though, that’s probably just because I haven’t gotten to the point where people start dying. In my previous ones… same situation. (I’ve never finished an entire novel draft. I intend to in 2017, we’ll see how that goes… *crosses fingers*)

IqIqctuallgot it at Frankenmuth, which is like a Christmas wonderland type thing??? (Not sure how to describe it) But yes! The peanut butter is kind of caramelized onto the popcorn?? I have no idea how they did it, but I need to find a recipe or something, haha! It was DELICIOUS. And if they can do it, I totally can too, right????
Oh my word Cresswell/Thress is my OTP!!! I love them!!! AKDHFBSLSKDBDOAKBDBS!!!!!! And the Lunar Chronicles are just–ugh!!!! Amazing!!!
I’m hoping to start it! I think it would be fun… Although I’m not exactly very ingenious when it comes to arts and crafts, so I honestly have no clue why I want to try this…
Oh dont worry!!! I’ve only finished one complete novel draft, and that was YEARS ago, so we are kinda totally in the same boat! I am rooting for you!!! (And yes!!! More death!! [Lol, jk jk! {or am I???}])

You definitely should find a recipe!! Even if it’s not quite the right one, it’ll probably be really good anyways!
Right?? How does someone make something that awesome out of only 26 letters?! (And probably caffeine at one point. And also probably a computer. But still.)
You should still try it! It’ll be great!
I’m rooting for you, too!! (The twisty-turvyness of author morals… :P)

Ooh, yes! I’ll have to see what I can find…
Ugh, I know, right? And I don’t really use caffeine while writing, although I think it might help me power through slumps? Maybe I should try milkshakes??? (because ice cream is totally caffeine)
Aww, thank you! I’m really excited for this next year! Writing is so much fun, and I’m totally going to try the arts and crafts thing. I’ve already got some ideas… (I think…)

I don’t usually have caffeine, unless tea counts. But milkshakes should definitely help, if for no other reason than tastiness!
Good luck!!

Ooh! I’ve always wanted to try tea! That’s something I should really look into…
Haha, most definitely! Milkshakes are DELICIOUS!
Aw, thank you!!!

Wow. You have murdered many people. More than me, even! What an accomplishment!
Also: be not ashamed of thy inner chipmunk! My first reaction to that question (answering for myself, you see) was a squirrel. I identify myself with a squirrel. So clearly we are very similar. And don’t flatter ourselves much. ;)
Also Danby Elfman = fun music of whimsicalness!!!!!

I mean Danby. Not Danby. He’s a totally different guy…

This is getting very confusing. Autocorrect keeps switching DANNY to DANBY. Not appreciated, Autocorrect!

Autocorrect certainly thought so!!! :)

Yeah… I tend to kill my characters rather easily, haha!
Ooh!!! Yes!!!! We are both in the rodent family! *high-fives*
Wait… Please tell me squirrels and chipmunks are rodents… Now I’m questioning my smartness… (And just by saying smartness, I’m pretty sure there’s something wrong with my logic right now…)
Ooh!!! Yes, most definitely!!

Yes, definitely rodents (which sounds unpleasant but they are consistently adorable animals???)!!

Lovely answers to somewhat oddball questions! But I appricate whoever created those slightly oddball questions because I’ve seen this tag make the rounds a couple of times and the questions are always so similar.
Thanks for stopping by Writing on a Vintage Typewriter!
